I have been involved with art and the creative process since childhood, in one way or another. I like to bring a sense of balance, depth, and color to every aspect of my life and work.
I started creating collages since I can remember and I still think that collages have been the theme of my life. For me, life is nothing but a collage of learning experiences, glued together by destiny and karma. (You ca see some of my Paper Collages on the Image Gallery of my web site.) I was always drawn to the flexibility of mixed media and 3-dimensional art, and I consider designing Sacred Gemstone Jewelry as another form of collage where I can put together different healing energies and color combinations to create a piece of jewelry that is both beautiful and meaningful, utilizing and combining color, energy, vibration, mystic symbols, and sacred seeds.
Precious Metal Clay (PMC) offers me the flexibility I need to create jewelry collages. To me, these ‘jewelry collages’ are the perfect wearable art form. I love ethnic cultures and have traveled to many parts of the world, both East and West, so I tend to add some of that aspect to my designs as well.
My designs are not just about beauty or fashion. I have to resonate with the energy of a jewelry piece or the visual aspect of a t-shirt. It has to have some uplifting value or depth of meaning, not just be pretty or fashionable. I am an explorer of the mind and the subconscious, so my designs may also convey those themes of human nature.
I love working/playing with words, too! I worked in the editorial world, as a proofreader, translator and editor for different publishing companies for over 20 years. Now I am in the process of writing my own fiction and non-fiction books.
